💸  House Passes Bill to Cut Federal Retirement Benefits

The U.S. House just passed a budget reconciliation bill that includes major cuts to federal employee retirement—part of a larger push to fund Trump’s $4.5 trillion tax package.

Here’s what’s in the bill:

  • Higher retirement contributions: All feds would pay 4.4% into FERS, even those hired before 2014—a direct cut to take-home pay.
  • Elimination of the FERS supplement: No more early retirement bridge to Social Security.
  • New fees for appeals: Filing a claim with the Merit Systems Protection Board could soon come with a price tag.

Some proposed changes—like switching pensions to a “high-5” calculation—were removed. But what’s left would still weaken retirement security for hundreds of thousands of federal workers.

📣 What this means for us:

These cuts aren’t final—they still have to get through the Senate. But they are real, and they are dangerous.

🛑 Local 2328 will be stepping up.

AFGE National is already mobilizing hard against these cuts, and Local 2328 will be joining that fight. We’ll be launching a direct outreach campaign to make sure every member knows what’s at stake and how to take action.

Stay tuned here and in your inbox—we’re going to need every voice on deck to stop this in the Senate.
